Use a Watering Schedule
Plant California Friendly
Replace grass with California friendly plants, which use much less water. For areas of functional turf where grass is necessary, plant warm season grass instead of cool season grass.
Look for Leaks and Fix Them
Key Tips for Saving Water
Check for and fix leaks, breaks, or malfunctions. Common leaks include irrigation system piping, toilets, and faucets.
Adjust your watering schedule based on weather, water before 8 AM or after 5 PM, and turn off your irrigation when it rains.
Use Water Efficient Sprinklers
A sprinkler nozzle can use as much water as a showerhead. Use low flow, water efficient sprinkler nozzles and convert appropriate areas to drip irrigation. Ensure outdoor watering does not produce excessive water flow or runoff.
